Melzer Studio fixtures are 3D printed in ceramic - porcelain or stoneware - and each piece is hand-finished in our studio. Ceramic is an exceptionally stable, durable material, and caring for it is simple - as long as you follow three rules.
The Three Rules That Matter
- Disconnect the power before any cleaning or handling.
- Clean with a soft, dry brush only.
- Never use water, cleaning agents, a damp cloth or any other liquid - liquids can leave permanent stains on the ceramic surface.
How Do You Clean a Ceramic Light Fixture?
Start by disconnecting the power. Then remove dust with a soft, dry brush only - a clean makeup brush or a wide paintbrush works well. Move gently over the surface, in light strokes along the printed lines, without applying pressure. A light dusting every few weeks is usually enough, depending on how much dust collects in your home.
Avoid using a vacuum cleaner directly on the fixture - the suction and the friction of the nozzle can damage the finish.
Important: never use water, cleaning agents, a damp cloth or any other liquid. The ceramic surface can absorb liquids, and a stain created this way may be permanent. Dust-removal sprays are not suitable either.
If a stain or mark does appear on your fixture, do not try to remove it by rubbing or with any cleaning product - contact us on WhatsApp and we will advise you based on the type of stain and the finish of your model.
Changing a Bulb
Before changing a bulb, disconnect the power and let the bulb cool down. While unscrewing, hold the ceramic body itself - not the cable - and screw the new bulb in gently, without force.
Ceramic Over Time
Porcelain and stoneware are remarkably stable materials: they do not fade, warp or change color over the years. A ceramic fixture keeps its look through years of use - all it asks in return is a gentle dusting every few weeks.
FAQ
How often should a ceramic light fixture be cleaned?
In an average home, a gentle dusting every few weeks with a soft, dry brush is all it needs. No other treatment is required.
A liquid spilled or a stain appeared - what should I do?
Do not rub it and do not try cleaning products - that only sets the stain. Contact us on WhatsApp with a photo of the stain, and we will point you to the right solution for your model and finish.
Can I use a slightly damp cloth?
No. Even light moisture can soak into the ceramic and leave a permanent mark. A soft, dry brush is the only way.
